About

Kathrin is a German- and Ontario-trained lawyer, specializing in data and AI governance. Currently, she is serving as a part-time consultant for several boutique consulting firms and offers her expertise as a privacy thought leader to Private AI, a Toronto-based innovator in privacy-enhancing technologies. She also consult start-up founders at Antler on all matters privacy and AI compliance. Her professional journey includes spearheading the Privacy and Records Management Program at a Toronto bank and developing B2B AI modules at Blue J, renowned for its intelligent diagramming and tax litigation prediction software. In addition to her consulting roles, she is volunteering as the Policy Lead at AI Governance and Safety Canada since January 2024, contributing to the development of responsible AI governance. Her academic pursuits include a GPLLM at UofT and ongoing PhD studies focused on the societal impacts of digital media, specifically the polarization driven by targeted advertising and personalized content. This work is inspired by her commitment to humane technology and aims to address the philosophical challenges of our digital age.
