About
With a background in humanities and a career that started out as a schoolteacher, Mario became increasingly interested in technological development throughout his 20’s largely due to the growth of both bitcoin and the AI sectors.
Starting in 2018, he spent 5 years working for early-stage startups in the bitcoin industry. In 2023, he became steadily more concerned with the rapid pace of AI capabilities advancements and the comparative lack of development on AI safety.
Mario decided to apply his community-building skills from his bitcoin days and his passion for teaching to AI Safety. He began by establishing Toronto’s first AI Safety Meetup, and soon after joined Wyatt to work full-time on co-founding AIGS.
Mario most enjoys introducing new people to the field of AI Safety and communicating technical concepts in simple and clear terms.
